Humphrey Jones, one of three children of Sir Jenkyn Jones, married Betty Wynne of Gwydyr. In 1615 a son
John was born to them and in the following
year a daughter, Betty. Betty (1616-1684)
married William Myddleton, esq of Denbigh.
The pedigree of Betty Wynne, whilst incomplete, traces the family
origins to Mervyn Vrych, King of Powiz, who died in 843 AD. Pages 15
to 18 of the Family Birth Book
incompletely document the family lineage to this rather noble height!
Mervyn's descendants met their fates in the battles
against the viking invaders. His son Rhadri
Mawr, King of Wales, was slain in 876. Rhadri's wife Angharad is
one of the daughters of Mevrie, Lord of Cardigan; his other daughter
Grwgan. Many generations later, the last King of Wales, Llewellyn, was slain at Builth on 11th December 1282. He was the son of King Crwffyd of Wales.
